What is advantage play and what does +EV mean?
Advantage play (AP) is using mathematical knowledge and observation to identify situations where a slot machine is temporarily in a state that favors the player rather than the casino.
+EV is short for positive expected value. When a progressive jackpot meter has climbed high enough, or when persistent state mechanics have accumulated value from previous play, the mathematical edge can shift in the player's favor for a window of time. This tool helps you identify those windows.
Is this legal?
Using publicly visible information about a slot machine to make playing decisions is legal in casinos that permit slot play. AP slot play is widely discussed in public forums, written about in mainstream publications, and practiced openly by hobbyists and professionals.
That said, individual casinos may not love AP players and can ask anyone to leave at any time. Be aware of local laws and casino rules wherever you play. This tool is informational; you are responsible for your own decisions.
Does this guarantee I will win?
No. +EV means a positive mathematical edge over the long run. Individual sessions can and frequently do lose money, even when the tool shows favorable conditions. Slot machines carry significant variance.
Treat the signals as guidance on which situations have a positive long term edge, not as predictions about whether a specific session will be profitable.
How accurate is the math?
Each machine in the catalog falls into one of three confidence levels:
- Community reported: the math model is calibrated against break even thresholds reported by the advantage play community.
- Approximate: the math model is correct but specific signal thresholds are educated estimates because validated community data is not yet available.
- Verified: confirmed against the actual machine placard or operator documentation (we do not currently have any machines at this level).
Always verify the placard at the machine before betting real money.
What do "Approximate" and "Verify Variant" mean?
Approximate appears on machines where the math model is correct but the specific signal thresholds are estimates. These machines still produce useful signals, but the precise break point is less certain than for fully calibrated machines.
Verify Variant appears on machines that have many lookalike versions on casino floors. Some variants share the mechanic this tool calibrates for, some do not. Always confirm the specific machine matches the description in the notes before acting on the signal.
Do I need an account?
No. The tool is anonymous and requires no signup. Just open it and start using it.
Is my data being tracked?
Yes, anonymously. Every calculation logs the machine, the signal shown, the meter values entered, and an anonymous session identifier. This data helps us improve calibration, identify popular machines, and detect issues.
We do not collect any personally identifying information. No name, email, location, or device fingerprint is logged. Photos uploaded for recognition are sent to the recognition service for processing and then discarded; we do not store them.
How does the photo feature work?
Tap the Read from Photo button on the machine picker. Take or upload a clear shot of the machine glass and meter display. The system uses image recognition to identify the machine and extract the meter values, then fills in the inputs for you so you only have to verify before calculating.
Some machines have visually complex displays where photo recognition is unreliable. For those machines, the tool will identify the machine from the photo but prompt you to enter the values manually. Frankenstein is one example.
What machines are supported?
The current catalog includes a curated set of true advantage play targets: Buffalo Link, Phoenix Link, Regal Link, Regal Riches, Rocket Rumble, Ascending Fortunes, Rich Little Piggies, Rich Little Hens, Frankenstein, Scarab, and two Huff N' Puff variants. Browse the machine picker to see the full list.
The catalog grows as new data becomes available. Machines without a real must hit by mechanic or without calibrated thresholds are intentionally excluded to keep the signals honest.
When will pricing start?
Plus EV Slots is in open beta and free to use during this period. Pricing and subscription plans will roll out after beta testing concludes. Anyone using the tool during the beta will know in advance if and when pricing changes.
How do I suggest a machine or report a bug?
Email support@plusevslots.com. Useful information to include:
- For a bug: what you did, what happened, and what you expected to happen. A screenshot helps.
- For a new machine: the machine name and manufacturer, plus any community reported thresholds or breakdown documents you have.
- For incorrect machine data: which machine, what value seemed wrong, and what the placard actually shows.
